The actor was in the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan to find out for himself if the nation lived up to its reputation when he nearly fell down a mountain visiting a hilltop monastery, reports WENN.
Fox, 47, suffers from Parkinson's Disease and said he was amazed to find his symptoms were eased in the state, which lies 11,000ft above sea level.
"We hiked up to this place. I was feeling so good and so cocky about how great I felt and about how I could climb up there," he said. "I started to walk down the mountain, and five minutes down I started to wipe out. I just started running and I couldn't stop.
"I was going, 'I'm going to die. I'm not a yak. I can't stop'. I had to throw myself to the ground before I reached the cliff. I cut my arm up and cut my ring finger badly."
A doctor in Kathmandu said Fox would lose his finger if his wedding band was not removed. The ring was eventually freed in a Delhi hospital.
