Universal has hired Race To Witch Mountain writer Mark Bomback to adapt Gerard Way's Umbrella Academy comic for the big screen.

The My Chemical Romance frontman's Dark Horse Comics series revolves around a disbanded group of superheroes who come together following the death of their adoptive father.

A follow-up series titled Dallas, involving the assassination of President Kennedy, completed its run last month.

Speaking about the project last year, Way claimed that Children Of Men filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron was eyeing the project to direct.
