The actor, who plays Brian O'Connor in the franchise, starred in the original The Fast And The Furious, along with its sequel 2 Fast 2 Furious and the current fourth instalment.
Speaking to radio show Valentine In The Morning, he said: "This was supposed to be it - but without question, Vin and I will be coming back, we’re making the fifth one and we’re going to Brazil.
"I didn’t do the third one and guys would come up to me on the street and be like, 'Hey, why weren’t you in the third one?' It’s like, you better have a good reason as to why you didn’t come back. So this [was] the opportunity to come back and make the first true sequel."
He added that "everybody was surprised" by the success of Fast & Furious at the box office, but insisted that "the best one [hasn't] been done yet".
Earlier this week, Universal confirmed to E! News that a fifth outing of the street racing films was in development.
