The Twilight villain will co-star with Leighton Meester in the Screen Gems project, Variety reports.
The actor, who played James in the vampire romance, has signed on to play Meester’s boyfriend.
The project, directed by Christian E. Christiansen, is a psychological thriller focusing on a disturbed college freshman who becomes obsessed with her roommate.
Principal photography on the film will begin in May.
Gigandet has previously played a similar role in The Unborn.
