Alexander Skarsgård has said that he will not take the lead role in Marvel's upcoming Thor.

The True Blood star, who is the son of actor Stellan Skarsgård, was rumoured to be in line to play the hammer-wielding hero last month.

However, the 32-year-old told E! Online that he does not rate his chances of securing the coveted role.

"No, I don't think so," he said. "I haven't gotten the call, so..."

Josh Hartnett and Natalie Portman have also been linked to the big budget comic book film, which Kenneth Branagh is directing for a June 17, 2011 release.
