Slade has been tapped by Summit Entertainment to helm The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, the third film in the popular vampire franchise.
The announcement was made on Wednesday after much speculation over who would direct the second sequel, Variety reports.
The production company has used different directors on each of the Twilight movies. Chris Weitz took over filming duties on upcoming second instalment New Moon from Catherine Hardwicke, who directed the original film.
Melissa Rosenberg the screenwriter who penned the first two movies, is currently working on the script for Eclipse, which has a release date of June 30, 2010.
Slade’s film credits include 2006’s Hard Candy and 2007 horror movie 30 Days Of Night.
