Beyoncé thriller Obsessed has topped the US box office on its first weekend on release.

The movie, which also stars Idris Elba and Ali Larter, pulls in $28.5 million to knock Zac Efron's 17 Again from the chart summit.

New releases Fighting, The Soloist and Disneynature's documentary Earth round out the top five.

Last week's number two and three, State Of Play and Hannah Montana, suffer a sharp drop in ticket sales, falling out of the top five to seven and eight respectively.
