The Disney star, whose Hannah Montana movie arrives in UK cinemas this Friday, discussed her future ambitions at a press conference to promote the film.
"I love travelling so I would like to travel and study photography at some point," she said. "Then find different locations I like and be a director and shoot films in different locations."
The 16-year-old claimed that it was never her intention to become a star, saying: "I always wanted to be an entertainer, I don't think 'famous' is necessarily what I went for."
Cyrus added that she found inspiration from her father Billy Ray's search for success: "He got told 'no' so many times when he was first becoming a musician. I was told 'no' and it was hard so to have someone be successful and not be told 'yes' right away was inspiring to me."
