Robert Pattinson has landed the lead role in upcoming movie Remember Me.

The 22-year-old actor is scheduled to begin shooting the Summit Entertainment project after he finishes work on second Twilight instalment New Moon in May, MTV News reports.

Remember Me is a romance which Summit CEO Patrick Wachsberger likened to 1970's tear-jerker Love Story. The film's producers have not yet decided on the actress who will play Pattinson's love interest.

Allen Coulter, who has won Emmys for his work on TV shows like The Sopranos and Damages, will direct the project with Jenny Lumet writing the screenplay.

Pattinson can next be seen in Salvador Dali biopic Little Ashes, which is scheduled for a May opening in the US and UK.
