Having won fans with his scripts for Being John Malkovich, Adaptation and Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, Charlie Kaufman is leaping from typewriter to director's chair with Synecdoche, New York. Released in the UK on May 15, the movie follows Philip Seymour Hoffman's playwright as he builds a life-size replica of New York to stage an ambitious play.
