Jim Carrey's controversial black comedy I Love You Phillip Morris has secured distribution in the US.

Reports surfaced earlier in the year claiming that the movie was struggling to find a distributor Stateside because it contains an explicit gay sex scene between Carrey's conman character and his prison cellmate, played by Ewan McGregor.

According to Variety, Consolidated Pictures Group has now picked up North American distribution rights to Glenn Ficarra and John Requa's movie, which is based on the book by Steven McVicker.

CPG has handed I Love You Phillip Morris a February 14, 2010 release date. The film is expected to arrive in the UK this summer via E1 Films.
