Reynolds turned down Bond role

Burt Reynolds claims that he was once offered the role of James Bond.
He told the New York Post that film producers offered him the lead role in the 1969 Bond movie, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, after Sean Connery decided not to star in any more Bond films.
"They did offer me Bond," he said. "It was when Sean Connery was giving them a lot of trouble about, you know, things, so they said [to Sean]: 'To hell with you.'
"At the time I really thought, and rightly so, that Connery was amazing in the role and whoever did it would get killed."
"Once in a while, when I have to send the alimony, I regret that decision. I would be so wealthy and probably living in England with a British accent!"
