The film venture will be uniting with the Oscar-winning director's non-profit organisation The World Cinema Foundation to support restoration and exhibition of neglected films from around the globe, according to Screen Daily.
"Preserving films is preserving cultural identity and plurality," said Scorsese. "There are so many pictures in need of restoration and preservation, which, for many reasons, are not getting the attention they deserve.
"And restoring and preserving is only half the battle, because in order to be appreciated, they have to be seen. Our new relationship with The Auteurs is intended to build awareness on the films and the people who made them, which are at the centre of the Foundation's work."
