Barrymore’s 'Whip It!' for Oct release

Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut Whip It! has been confirmed for an October release in the US, it has been reported.

The roller derby film will be distributed through Fox Searchlight and Barrymore’s production company, Flower Films.

The film will star Ellen Page as an indie-rock teen who discovers a roller derby league, as well as Kristen Wiig, Juliette Lewis and Zoe Bell as derby veterans.

Whip It! debuts in US cinemas on October 9. No UK release date has yet been announced.
