The Hancock helmer is in discussions with Universal about bringing the popular game to the screen. Jon and Erich Hoeber have already signed up to write the script.
The game consists of two players placing ships on a grid, then taking turns to guess their opponent's co-ordinates and sink their vessels. The studio is keeping a lid on story details at the moment, though the movie project has been described as an "epic naval action adventure".
Hasbro and Universal are also developing films based on Clue, Ouija Board and Monopoly with Ridley Scott.
