Applegate, Faris to play Chipettes?

Christina Applegate and Anna Faris have been named as two of the three Chipettes in the upcoming follow-up to Alvin and The Chipmunks.

Justin Long, who will reprise his lead role in Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, told MTV that Faris had hinted at her casting when he spoke to her on the phone.

Long said: "Anna Faris called me. I hadn't talked to her in a while, and I was like: 'Hey, what's up?' She said 'You're doing the Squeakquel!' and then something happened and we couldn't talk anymore. So, I'm pretty sure she’s doing it.

"I [also] heard Christina Applegate, and then there's a third and I'm not quite sure who that is."

However, Long denied reports that his He's Just Not That Into You co-star Drew Barrymore will play the part of the third Chipette.

Zachary Levi has already been confirmed for the movie, while Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney will return to play Simon and Theodore respectively.
