The show, which debuted in 1970 and ran for three years, focused on a secret military outfit called Shado (Supreme Headquarters Alien Defence Organisation) which battles an alien race that kidnaps and kills humans.
Writers Ryan Gaudet and Joseph Kanarek will change the series's 1980 setting to 2020.
"We know the importance of the UFO series brand to ITV Global, and we will work closely with them to build this into a franchise," Evans told Variety.
The producer, whose credits include Chinatown, Marathon Man and How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, is expected to set up the UFO movie at Paramount.
