Christian Bale has said that he tried to get Arnold Schwarzenegger to appear in Terminator Salvation.

In an interview with Access Hollywood, the actor revealed that he told the Governor of California to "think about" being in the movie after he "bumped into" him.

"But you know what, I think he's got a lot more important things he has to consider," Bale added.

While a CGI-version of the original Terminator star reveals itself in the latest flick, helmer McG also confessed that he attempted to land Schwarzenegger for a part.

"I went to Governor Schwarzenegger before photography and I told him how important it was to me to honour what he put in motion," he said.

"He's a very effusive guy and a positive guy, but he wanted the people of California to know that he was very attentive to his day job in Sacramento."

The director also revealed that Schwarzenegger told him that the digital version of himself was "fantastic".
