Irvine Welsh to make 'Magnificent Eleven'

Irvine Welsh has signed up to direct football comedy The Magnificent Eleven, reports Variety.

The Trainspotting author will oversee the project, which centres on an amateur football team, a Tandoori restaurant and a group of thugs. It is a modern spin on John Sturges's 1960 classic The Magnificent Seven.

Angry Badger Pictures pair John and Peter Adams will pen the script with Welsh. The company recently produced horror comedy S.N.U.B!.

Welsh made his directorial debut last year with darts comedy Good Arrows.
