Overture Films and Paramount Vantage have announced that the controversial filmmaker's follow-up to 2007's Sicko will reach US cinemas on October 2, according to Access Hollywood.
It is understood that the as-yet-untitled movie will deal with the US economy and the causes of the global economic crisis. Moore has said that it will expose "the biggest swindle in American history".
The Fahrenheit 9/11 helmer previously examined a struggling economy 20 years ago in his documentary Roger & Me, about General Motors closing down a plant in Flint, Michigan.
Moore also won an Academy Award in 2003 for Bowling For Columbine.
