The as-yet-untitled movie will be helmed by Barry Levinson, Variety reports.
The script, written by Adam Mazer, centres on the construction of Kevorkian's 'Mercy Machine' and the first assisted suicide he performed using it.
The doctor served eight years of a 10 to 25-year sentence for second-degree murder. He was released from prison in 2007.
