Paul Verhoeven returns to Hollywood

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Dutch filmmaker is attached to develop and direct the 20th Century Fox movie. An adaptation of Kathryn Mackel's 2004 novel, the story revolves around a couple who discover that the woman they have paid to carry their baby is insane.
Roderick Taylor and Bruce Taylor penned the script, while X-Men's Ralph Winter will serve as producer.
Verhoeven, whose credits include Total Recall, Showgirls and Starship Troopers, has not made a film in the US since 2000's Hollow Man.
His last movie, the well-received Black Book, was produced in the Netherlands and Germany.
