Del Toro launches new vampire novel

Pan's Labyrinth director Guillermo del Toro is preparing to release his upcoming vampire novel, The Strain, it has been reported.

The novel, which is co-written by horror writer Chuck Hogan, centres on a vampiric virus that wreaks havoc in New York City but has the potential to ravage the entire world.

The Strain is the first instalment of a planned trilogy of novels, reports Empire.

Del Toro's literary debut is published on June 2.
