21 helmer Robert Luketic has been linked to the director's chair for the big budget remake of Barbarella.

The Australian filmmaker, whose directorial credits also include Legally Blonde and Monster-in-Law, is reportedly working with producer Dino De Laurentiis to take the sci-fi project to a different studio.

"It will be a big intergalactic adventure with a sexy twist," a source told Entertainment Weekly.

A new Barbarella came close to fruition last year under the stewardship of Robert Rodriguez. Rose McGowan was attached to take on the role made famous by Jane Fonda in 1968, but the project collapsed due to an expanding budget.
