Pixar's Up has held off strong competition from comedy The Hangover to remain atop the US box office.
Todd Phillips's new movie, about three men who lose the groom on a Las Vegas bachelor party weekend, pulls in $43.3 million over the weekend to debut in second place. It is the third-highest opening for an R-rated comedy in the US, beating recent hits Superbad and Knocked Up.
Will Ferrell's Land Of The Lost, meanwhile, debuts at number three with a disappointing £19.5 million, making it the first major flop of the summer. The box office take falls well below Universal's expectations for the $100 million-budgeted comedy.
Elsewhere, Nia Vardalos's My Life In Ruins struggles to make a dent in the chart, opening at number nine with $3.2 million.
