Justin Theroux will direct comedy Chief Ron for Universal, says Variety.

Written by Jordan Roberts, the movie is inspired by the true story of Chief Ron Roberts, who despite his blond hair and blue eyes, said that he was of Mohegan ancestry in order to open a casino. His claims held up in court and he is now building a casino in New York.

Imagine Entertainment's Brian Grazer will produce Chief Ron.

The cousin of BBC documentarian Louis Theroux, Justin is more well-known for acting roles in Mulholland Dr., Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle and Miami Vice. He made his directorial debut in 2007 with Dedication and also worked on the scripts for Tropic Thunder and Iron Man 2.
