The British director worked with Searchlight on Slumdog Millionaire, garnering eight Oscars and $350 million for the India-set rags to riches tale.
He previously helmed 28 Days Later and produced 28 Weeks Later for the US mini studio.
Boyle has yet to decide on his next project, though he is planning to return to Mumbai to make Maximum City, an adaptation of Suketu Mehta's book about the city's criminal underworld.
According to the Los Angels Times, Boyle is also interesting in making a film about Aron Ralston, the American mountain climber who cut off his arm to free himself from a boulder when he became trapped during a 2003 hiking accident.
