The actor, who stars as Edward Cullen in the vampire franchise, is a keen musician and contributed two original tracks to last year's Twilight.
Speaking to Metro, he said: "I don’t think [I will be on the soundtrack] this time. It’s still early on, but there are so many people that might be on it.
"The last one did so well, so loads of bands want to go on it. Bands that I would never ever have thought would be on a soundtrack I think are going to be on it this time."
Coldplay are the latest band to have hinted at a possible New Moon offering, while the Jonas Brothers have also expressed an interest in contributing a track.
However, original soundtrack musicians Paramore recently played down any further involvement with the franchise, while fan favourites My Chemical Romance have also ruled out a rumoured collaboration.
