At the press conference for Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, LaBeouf said that he enjoyed the manly vigour of working with the director.
He said: "Mike? Me and him we had like a big brother, little brother type of thing. He's like a football coach. He doesn't coddle you and that takes getting used to.
"Actors are used to being coddled and we don't get that on his sets. There's a real masculine energy on all his movies. I enjoy the hell out of it, I really do. It's like skydiving for five months."
Co-star Megan Fox added: "It is exciting. He is rough on his actors on purpose."
