'Karate Kid' nabs 'Happyness' writer Conrad

The '80s franchise update, which is expected to be released under the name Kung Fu Kid, will star Jaden Smith as martial arts fighter Dre, Taraji P Henson as his mother and Jackie Chan as mentor Mr Han.
Will Smith and James Lassiter are producing the movie, with Harald Zwart on board to direct. Kung Fu Kid is scheduled to begin production next month in Beijing.
Conrad previously worked with Will and Jaden Smith on The Pursuit Of Happyness. His other credits include The Weather Man and The Promotion.
