The Superbad actor, who next appears in biblical comedy Year One, told Moviefone that he doesn't rate his chances of winning a role in the planned Ghostbusters sequel.
"No. I don't think so," Cera remarked. "Ghostbusters is too important for me to try and be one. I would feel like a phony. I would feel like an impostor."
However, Cera's Year One co-star Jack Black admitted that he would like to get involved in the sci-fi comedy, which will see the four original Ghostbusters return to train new recruits.
"Could I see myself in it?" Black said. "Yeah, I can bust some ghosts! I ain't afraid of no ghosts, buster!"
Year One scribes Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky are penning the new Ghostbusters movie, while director Harold Ramis starred in and co-wrote the first two franchise instalments.
