Scarlett Johansson and Anne Hathaway are the inspiration for the female creature in The Bride Of Frankenstein remake, it has been reported.

The project, based on the 1935 horror classic, was announced earlier this week, and will be directed by Neil Burger.

In the original film the titular character, played by Elsa Lanchester, was portrayed as a frizzy-haired ghoul, while producer Brian Grazer reportedly wants the new bride to have sex appeal, says The New York Post.

"She'll be young. They're looking for a person with great power and sex appeal," said a source.

"Someone along the lines of Scarlett Johansson or Anne Hathaway."

Grazer recently confirmed that he will produce a Stretch Armstrong movie, centred around the popular ’70s toy.
