Published Thursday, Jun 25 2009, 13:56 BST | By Simon Reynolds

The re-cut Watchmen will feature 25 minutes of additional scenes, including the death of a supporting character. Theatres in Los Angeles, New York, Minneapolis and Dallas will screen the blockbuster in the week prior to its July 21 Blu-ray and DVD release.
Director Snyder is also taking the revised Watchmen to this year's Comic-Con, where a special Blu-ray live screening will take place on July 25. The event will allow North American Blu-ray disc owners to watch the superhero saga in synch with the Comic-Con audience, with Snyder on hand to take questions.
"Comic-Con, it isn't just comic book fanatics, it's cinephiles as well," Snyder said. "It'll be cool to discuss what people are thinking. I'm proud of the movie. It does everything I wanted it to."
