The 27-year-old actress has admitted she was surprised when she accepted a role in G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra.
With a resume that includes Factory Girl, Interview and The Edge of Love, Miller has said that she was taken aback by the idea that she could juggle independent and big-budgeted features.
Miller told Total Film: "Well, I'd always intended to do the more artistic, independent projects that often require an emotionally gruelling performance. But I think I got to a point where I just wanted to go and see.
"I'd really avoided doing anything of this magnitude before but it felt right at the time."
She added: "I definitely think I'm an indie girl at heart, but I want to have the freedom to be able to hop between the stage and big movies and smaller ones."
G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra is scheduled for release on August 7.
