Postman Pat - The Movie?
Published Monday, Oct 11 2004, 22:38 BST | By Iain Chapman
The major film studios, including Warner Bros. and 20th Century Fox are said to be keen to make Hollywood stars out of kids favourites Postman Pat.
The studios believe that Postman Pat and black and white cat Jess could be the next big thing following in the successes of Shrek 2 and Shark Tale.
The desire to turn kids favourites into big screen feature films isn't new. A film version of The Magic Roundabout is scheduled to hit cinemas next year, and Wallace and Gromit is said to be in production. Other kids favourites thought to be on the target list of the studios include the BBC's The Tweenies and Tales of the River Bank.
Entertainment Rights boss Mike Heap confirmed that negotiations were ongoing with studios.
A spokesperson for production company Celador, who own the rights to Tales of the River Bank, said that a film version of the show was planned for next spring.
