Star Trek writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will produce action-comedy Licence To Steal for Paramount.

The project, based on a Salon.com article by Marc Weingarten, centres on the high end of the reposition business, which sees agents sent across the world to reclaim lavish purchases such as private jets and speedboats.

Kurtzman and Orci will oversee development of the script, to be written by Shane Salerno (Armageddon). Paramount has reportedly spent seven figures on acquiring the property, says Variety.

"We're thrilled to be working with Shane, a wildly inventive and talented creator," said Kurtzman and Orci. "His passion was clear the minute he started telling his story. He has crafted a smart, lighthearted action movie that's fun and topical, with a ton of unexpected plot twists."

Kurtzman and Orci's latest film, Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, is in cinemas now.
