It was reported yesterday that Landis had already sold the film rights to Dimension Films to work on an update of the 1981 movie, which he wrote and directed.
BloodyDisgusting.com claimed that the acquisition had already transpired. However, Landis revealed in an interview with the website that the proposed project was still being negotiated.
He said: "Yes, Dimension is now in negotiation for the An American Werewolf in London remake rights. Perhaps someone will make a brilliant movie out of it."
A Blu-ray version of the first film starring David Naughton as the titular werewolf is expected to be available this summer.
