Marion Cotillard has revealed that she loves filming extreme scenes in her movies.

Speaking at the press conference for Public Enemies, the French actress said that she found it hard to hold on to her US accent during a particularly intense scene in the film.

Cotillard said: "I kind of love extreme scenes. I would say that after this kind of scene I feel empty, but also fulfilled.

"It think it might be like when you do sport and you have a competition like the 100 metres. After that you feel tired and empty, but also fulfilled because you did something that was intense."

She continued: "The difficulty of the scene was that when you have very emotional, violent scenes, you really can't think of the technique, and I had to keep this Midwestern accent.

"It was really difficult because I had to give up the technique and really let it go, but at the same time not think about it but feel it."

Cotillard added that while she is usually 100% devoted to a character, story and director, with Michael Mann that commitment was "1000%".

"I really love him as a person and as a director. I wanted to be perfect for him," she said.
