Universal aims for 'Asteroids' movie
Published Thursday, Jul 2 2009, 12:38 BST | By Alex Fletcher

Asteroids, originally released in 1979, involved a triangular space ship fighting off rocks and flying saucers in an asteroid field. There was no storyline or mythology involved in the game, so Universal's plot will be developed from scratch.
Matthew Lopez, who worked on Disney's Race To Witch Mountain, is currently penning the script for the adaptation, while Lorenzo di Bonaventura will produce, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Similar upcoming Universal projects include adaptations of board games Battleship and Candyland.
