Pierce Brosnan has said that he was in shock for 24 hours after being axed as James Bond.

Female First reports that Brosnan has confirmed that he will not be returning to the role, despite being told otherwise by producers.

He said, "It's over, it's over, it's absolutely over!

"It was their prerogative to change their minds. They can do it! It was disappointing. It was surprising.

"And I accepted the knowledge after 24 hours of being in shock."

Jude Law, Colin Firth and Ewan McGregor are amongst the actors rumoured to be possible replacements for Brosnan.
