Gainsbourg 'felt masochistic in Antichrist'

The actress told The Times that she was both scared and excited while shooting one scene where Willem Dafoe's character strangles her.
Gainsbourg said: "I would ask him to be tough and I didn't breathe myself. I thought my vessels were going to pop and it scared me. But in a good way.
"That's why it's difficult to say what was the worst day or best day when I was making the film because it was always mixed."
She added: "I felt very masochistic at that time because doing painful stuff was exciting and I loved it. And all the suffering, the crying, the screaming was exhilarating. So everything was mixed."
Antichrist is released in the UK on July 24.
