Columbia nabs PT Barnum project
Columbia Pictures has picked up a movie project about American entrepreneur PT Barnum, says Variety.

Screenwriter Stan Chervin will pen the film, which will chart Barnum's rise from shopkeeper to the world's first showbusiness millionaire. At the age of 61, he founded the travelling circus PT Barnum's Grand Travelling Museum, Menagerie, Caravan & Hippodrome, which went on to become known as The Greatest Show On Earth.

Todd Garner (Paul Blart: Mall Cop) is on board to produce the untitled movie.

Chervin previously worked with Columbia on the script for baseball drama Moneyball before the project collapsed when Steven Soderbergh's rewrite was rejected by the studio.
