The programme starred Barbara Stanwyck as an outspoken matriarch, while it also began the careers of Lee Majors and Linda Evans. The show told the story of the well-off Barkley family, who lived in Stockton, California during the 19th Century.
According to Variety, Kate Edelman Johnson and Daniel Adams, along with series creators Louis F. Edelman and A.I. Bezzerides, will adapt the plotline from the show's pilot and its subsequent episodes through Panther Entertainment.
It is understood that no roles have yet been cast and filming on the project will begin in April next year in New Mexico and Michigan.
The Big Valley aired on ABC from 1964 to 1969.
