Dafoe to star in 'John Carter Of Mars'

Willem Dafoe has been added to the cast Disney/Pixar's John Carter Of Mars, reports Variety.

Dafoe, whose new film Antichrist opens in the UK on July 24, will play Tars Tarkas, a Martian warrior who forms an alliance with the eponymous hero.

Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins and Thomas Haden Church have already been cast in the big screen adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs's pulp novels, which centres on a Civil War veteran who is transported to Mars.

WALL-E's Andrew Stanton is directing John Carter based on a script he co-wrote with Mark Andrews and Michael Chabon.
