Daniel Radcliffe has revealed his first acting interest away from the Harry Potter franchise.

The actor will finish filming the wizard series next year after the second part of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows completes shooting.

Radcliffe admitted that he is keen to portray real-life British photojournalist Dan Eldon, who was battered to death in Somalia in the 1990s, Contactmusic reports.

"I have a few projects on the boil, but the one that I am really interested in is based on the real-life story of a photojournalist, Dan Eldon, who was only 22 when he was killed by an angry mob in Somalia in 1993," he said.

He added: "He was a really heroic guy and we are just waiting for the green light on that one. It all depends on the funding."

It was reported earlier that Radcliffe hopes that author JK Rowling will not pen any more Harry Potter novels.

Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince is in cinemas now.
