Published Friday, Jul 31 2009, 00:02 BST | By Simon Reynolds

British comedy In The Loop leads the pack with four nominations in the Movie Of The Year, Actor Of The Year (for Peter Capaldi), Best Comedy and Best Movie Marketing categories.
Sacha Baron Cohen's outrageous comedy Brüno and Mickey Rourke's comeback film The Wrestler follow with three nominations each. Both Cohen and Rourke feature as Actor Of The Year contenders, while The Wrestler's Marisa Tomei faces competition from Penelope Cruz, Kristen Stewart and Kate Winslet for the Actress Of The Year prize.
Frost/Nixon, Looking For Eric, Milk, Slumdog Millionaire and Star Trek all complete the nominees for the Movie Of The Year trophy.
The Best Blockbuster section will see the recent Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince take on Twilight and Star Trek. The latest 007 adventure Quantum Of Solace, Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen and Watchmen are also nominated in the category to honour the box office smashes of the past 12 months.
Along with genre sections for horror, comedy and family films, there are also awards for Best Movie Marketing, Turkey Of The Year and a Hidden Gem prize for low budget movies that may have slipped under the radar.
Voting for the awards opens today on Digital Spy. Readers will be able to put forward their favourite film choices throughout August, with the winners unveiled on the site in October.
