'GI Joe' filmmakers 'worried about France'

Speaking at the UK press conference for the Hasbro adaptation, di Bonaventura said that he and director Stephen Sommers had concerns about an action sequence that climaxes with the Eiffel Tower collapsing.
"As soon as you try to second-guess the French you know you're going to be in trouble," said di Bonaventura. "We definitely thought, 'How are they going to feel about this?'
"Stephen and I talked a lot about the fact that we're always using American monuments, so why don't we use a European one? That is one of our favourite ones and it turned into a spectacular choice."
Sommers joked: "We had it back up the next day, the French were fine with it!"
Gi Joe: The Rise Of Cobra opens worldwide on August 7.
