The Proposal star was recently announced as the lead in the upcoming Green Lantern movie, based on the DC comics character.
Reynolds, who played Deadpool in this summer’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, is also attached to reprise the role for a spinoff film being adapted from Marvel Comics.
The actor, 32, reportedly said that there is no precedent to say that he cannot take on both franchises at the same time.
"There's no rule that says you can't play two different characters in two different comic book universes," he is quoted as telling Entertainment Weekly.
He added: "There's so many interesting comic book characters out there, I would love to do others."
Both film projects are slated for a 2011 release date. The Green Lantern will be headed up by Warner Brothers, while 20th Century Fox has the rights to the proposed Deadpool movie.
