The Saw franchise co-creator has resurrected the movie project that was shelved in May, with original producer Paul W.S. Anderson staying on to produce the vampire picture, Bloody Disgusting reports.
"I'm very fresh on this project, so it's early stages and I'm still trying to work things out, but the producers love my vision for it," Wan said.
"I'll be working on the script with a writer to give it a new spin, different to the previous versions. This will have my stamp on it, which [game developers] Konami is very excited about."
Castlevania was first introduced to gamers during the '80s on the NES console, while it spawned sequels on multiple formats. Wan previously directed the movies Dead Silence and Death Sentence.
