Channing: 'I want Depp to play me'

WENN

Carol Channing has said that she would like Johnny Depp to play her if a biopic of the singer-actress ever materialises.

Earlier this month, the Ed Wood star admitted that he was keen to star in a movie about the life of the 88-year-old, because "in the digital age you can do anything".

The Tony Award-winner revealed that she would be "interested" to see how Depp would portray her, The Advocate reports.

She said: "I imagine, when or if Johnny should portray me, he will succeed. Because a true artist, such as himself, is one who loves his or her creation and therefore represents their honest view of that which they are creating."

She added: "I think he is a gifted performer and I would be very proud, as well as interested, in seeing what his vision of me would be."

Depp can next be seen in the screen adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson's The Rum Diary.
